Three Rings –
Three Rings was produced as part of an exhibition of new works created in response to LGBT+ support organisation Switchboard as part of the re-launch of their helpline. Since then it has been commissioned as a permanent installation at Switchboard’s HQ.
Though the images initially read as staged commercial photography, they in fact document real events. Taken in Switchboards call centre the images capture volunteers as they receive calls for people in need.
By removing the context the images centre on the subject’s facial expressions and body langue, depicting the emotions the volunteers go through as they deal with callers.
The images sit between the real emotions of the phone conversation and the staged environments around them.
